Hey Angela, we\u2019ve got some dogs visiting our property for a short time. Can we order temporary fencing for dogs? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hi, there. Thank you for asking. You have no idea how many\ntimes we hear this question. It seems logical, right? Just put up some\ntemporary fencing and you\u2019ve got a dog run? But unfortunately, the answer is almost\nalways no, and here\u2019s why:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Temporary fencing is made specifically for people. Construction site fencing<\/a> and event fencing for crowds are designed for areas where you need to keep people safe and away from dangers like heavy equipment, high-voltage electricity, or traffic and other dangers to crowds. We even wrote a blog post on how temporary fencing saves lives<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Think about how temporary fencing is constructed to meet\nthese needs. You\u2019re going to rent either large panels that are weighted down for\nconstruction sites, or the shorter \u201cbicycle fencing\u201d used at events. Neither of\nthese styles are made to keep a dog penned in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019ve ever had a dog, you know how often they dig under,\nor jump over, fences. Dog fencing has to be sturdy enough to handle dog\nshenanigans. With standard temporary fencing used in construction and events,\nstrong dogs could potentially push over panels. In any of these cases, you\u2019ll\nend up with loose dogs to round up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even if you dig posts and create a more stable temporary\nfencing solution, it still isn\u2019t as good as a dog run or kennel panels that are\ndesigned for dogs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All in all, using temporary fencing rentals for dogs opens\nup a lot of liability issues. It also creates an unsafe environment for the\ndogs. What happens when they get out? With dogs\u2026any and everything. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The good news is you can buy kennel kits at any home\nimprovement or hardware store. Some of the large big-box stores also carry them.\nAnd of course, you can order them online. These kits are designed for dogs, and\nthey come in many different sizes. They\u2019re relatively easy to install, and in a\nlot of cases they\u2019re less expensive than trying to create your own system using\ntemporary fencing rentals.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We always recommend people invest in an outdoor kennel kit <\/a>and not temporary fencing for dogs. You might think kennel kits look very similar to the temporary fencing you rent for construction and event use, but they\u2019re not the same. Get a kennel kit designed and tested specifically for dogs. From a liability standpoint, it\u2019s a lot better than having your dogs on the loose. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
