As we head into 2023, many are weary of <a href=\"https:\/\/archinect.com\/news\/tag\/637890\/inflation\">inflation forecasts<\/a> and how inflation will impact the construction industry. However economists offer a glimmer of hope. They claim that despite labor challenges, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equipmentworld.com\/market-pulse\/article\/15301572\/dodge-construction-network-q3-report-now-available\">future looks bright for the construction industry<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of construction\u2019s saving graces is the industry\u2019s technological opportunities. If the sector continues to lean into innovative solutions, higher productivity and strong outcomes are likely to follow. That brings us to industry trends for 2023. Let\u2019s take a look at the leading trends that are likely to shape the industry next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-green-building-initiatives\">Green Building Initiatives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sustainability has been a major emphasis across many different industries. (Back in 2021, ZTERS hired our own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zters.com\/blog\/zters-hires-sustainability-manager-uzair-iqbal-to-improve-waste-operations\">Sustainability Manager<\/a> to develop more environmentally friendly waste programs.) The construction industry may be at the forefront of this greater shift to green and it definitely shows. The global green building materials market is projected to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/587718\/green-building-materials-market-outlook-worldwide\/\">reach almost 524 billion U.S. dollars<\/a> by 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.epa.gov\/greenbuilding\/web\/html\/about.html\">Green building<\/a> methods involve better resource-efficiency, minimizing waste produced from wide-scale projects, and reducing fossil fuel emissions. Not only does green building bode well for sustainability efforts, but it also comes with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctillc.com\/blog\/the-top-3-tax-incentives-available-for-green-building-construction\">tax incentives<\/a>. All of this is extremely important for combating climate change.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-increased-use-of-augmented-reality\">Increased Use of Augmented Reality<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Augmented reality (AR) has taken the construction industry by storm. When construction companies leverage <a href=\"https:\/\/constructionblog.autodesk.com\/augmented-reality-ar-construction\/\">augmented reality<\/a>, they can better plan and execute projects. Recognizing this, ZTERS integrated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zters.com\/blog\/using-augmented-reality-on-construction-sites\">AR for construction sites<\/a> into our free mobile app. This allows users to visualize equipment such as dumpsters and portable toilets on their site to figure out how it will fit on the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Combined with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/industry\/aec\/bim\">Building Information Modeling<\/a>, AR empowers professionals in design, architecture, and construction to generate interactive models of projects and easily make modifications. It\u2019s a powerful tool for streamlining the entire workflow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-remote-construction-worksites\">Remote Construction Worksites<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The pandemic forced us to adapt quickly. One of the biggest changes was to virtual meetings and collaboration. Many of us wouldn\u2019t imagine remote work and construction as compatible, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/remote-construction-workers-this-is-the-zoom-of-the-building-industry\/\">remote construction work<\/a> enabled project managers, inspectors, and other key players to evaluate construction projects virtually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can expect to see more remote worksites cropping up, meaning that projects may be completed faster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We anticipate that 2023 will be a major year for the construction industry. With technological opportunities abound, there are seemingly endless possibilities.
