Can you use augmented reality for outdoor events and DIY projects? Absolutely. Before planning your next home construction project, or an outdoor event or family get together, use augmented reality to make sure your dumpster, portable toilet, and storage container will fit on your site by using augmented reality. More than one billion people used augmented reality (AR) in 2020 – you may have been one of them without even realizing it.
How does augmented reality work?
Think about the last time you shopped online for furniture on your mobile device. Chances are, there was a point-and-view feature that let you point your camera in the direction of your room to see how a piece of furniture would look in the space. You saw AR in action. And you can do the same thing with portable toilets, dumpsters, and storage units on your next DIY project.
Why use AR for outdoor events and DIY?
There’s a good chance you’ve never rented a portable toilet or dumpster before. How do you know whether a 10-foot or 20-foot unit will fit? Or whether a portable toilet will fit in a carport? It’s hard to visualize the size and shape of these products, so we developed an AR feature for our app that makes it easy to see whether units will fit before you place an order.

We’ve been helping construction and outdoor events professionals with temporary site rentals for more than ten years. In that time, we’ve seen plenty of situations where people guess wrong and order the wrong sized product. Dumpsters don’t fit. Toilets have to be sent back. And unfortunately, it costs time and money to get a new delivery scheduled. When you’re DIYing or planning a family reunion, that’s an added expense you don’t need.

- Download the app on Google Play or the Apple App Store
- Launch the app and select Augmented Reality
- Select the product you want to rent
- Point your camera toward the area where you want it
That’s it! You’ll be able to see how (or if) it fits in your space.
