Who doesn’t want an extra dose of magic during the holidays? There’s no better way to embrace the festive spirit than by immersing yourself in the glow of the Cincinnati Zoo’s Festival of Lights. Now in its 40th year, this annual extravaganza has become a beloved tradition, captivating visitors of all ages with its dazzling displays and activities.

If that’s not compelling enough, the Festival was awarded Best Zoo Lights of 2022. It’s no wonder the Cincinnati zoo took first place considering the fact that almost the entire zoo is illuminated by 4 million LED lights.

The Festival is taking place from November 17th to January 7th, giving you plenty of time to make your way over amidst all those holiday plans. The heart of the Cincinnati Zoo Festival of Lights lies in its spectacular light displays that transform the zoo into a mesmerizing winter wonderland. The pathways twinkle with millions of lights from whimsical animal-themed displays to classic holiday scenes. According to the official website, there are 30 larger-than-life animal displays to see.

Interactive Holiday Experiences

One of the highlights of this year’s festival is the emphasis on interactive experiences. Visitors can stroll through tunnels of twinkling lights and even take advantage of technology that allows them to control certain light installations.

Meet and Greets with Santa’s Helpers

No holiday celebration is complete without a visit from Santa Claus, and the Cincinnati Zoo Festival of Lights doesn’t disappoint. Santa’s helpers roam the zoo, offering families the opportunity to grab a holiday selfie.

For kiddos with sensory sensitivities, there’s a Sensory-Friendly Santa Experience that eliminates waiting in lines, offers a chair separate from Santa, and allots extra time with Santa.

Live Performances

In addition to the breathtaking visuals, the festival features a lineup of live performances that serve as a soundtrack to the light display. Local choirs, musicians, and dancers take to the stage, creating a festive atmosphere that resonates throughout the zoo. Attendees can expect to hear everything from traditional carols to contemporary holiday tunes.
