Request a street use encroachment permit (a.k.a. A “no dig permit”) from the City of Sacramento if you plan on stationing your rental in the right-of-way. However, you may not need one if you simply want to set the container on your own private property.
You will need to complete the Minor Encroachment Permit Application. Specifically, these licenses are issued by the Engineering Services division of the Department of Public Works. The form can be submitted in person, by mail, or online through the Sacramento Citizen Permit Portal.
You must pay a minimum deposit fee to the city of $300 when turning in the application. This can be done in person or over the phone using a credit card via (916) 808-6810.
